Derek Arthur Ramsay is a Filipino-British model, actor, host, and VJ in the in the Philippines.
Ramsay has appeared in various television series, such as Ysabella, Habang May Buhay, Magkaribal. and in films such as And I Love You So, I Love You, Goodbye, No Other Woman and Praybeyt Benjamin.
He was born in England to a Filipino-English artist; his family emigrated to the Philippines whilst he was young. He didn’t return to England until he was 18, when he took up electrical engineering during college in Boston and England.
His British father was a Detective Inspector in the Metropolitan Police in London and met Derek's mother while she was working in the Cadogan Hotel in England as the head of Housekeeping Department.They settled in the Philippines and set up a successful security firm. His father is prominent in the British business community in Manila and was a former president of the Manila Club.
He started his showbusiness career as one of the hosts of the Saturday entertainment magazine talk show Entertainment Konek. A former VJ of MTV Philippines, he also hosted a celebrity dance program U Can Dance for two seasons. After playing the supporting characters of Kahimu in Ang Panday and Machete in Super Inggo, Ramsay got his first lead role as chef Mito Valenzuela in Ysabella. Ramsay signed a four-picture exclusive contract with Star Cinema.
In 2011, he starred in back to back blockbuster films, the sexy adult-drama No Other Woman and the comedy film Praybeyt Benjamin which stars comedian Vice Ganda.
