It's official. Former Kapuso actress Iza Calzado is now a certified Kapamilya. She just signed a 3-year contract with ABS-CBN on Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 2012.
No less than ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio and other network executives were present during the contract signing. Her contract includes a television series, a reality show and a film with Star Cinema. According to unconfirmed reports, Iza is being eyed as Sharon Cuneta's replacement for the upcoming season of the weight-loss reality program, Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition. There is also buzz that she will be paired with John Lloyd Cruz in a film.
In an interview after the contract signing, Iza admits that leaving her former network was one of the most difficult decisions she has ever made especially the thought of missing her Eat Bulaga family.
"Isa sa pinakamahirap na desisyon sa akin na iwanan ang Eat Bulaga. You can never understand what it is like unless you were part of that family. Napakabait nila and it takes a certain personality to jell with them and I was fortunate enough to have that kind of personality and they are very fun kaya lang I really need to do this. I'm sure maiintindihan nila," she said.
When asked who among Kapamilya stars she would like to work with, Iza named some of ABS-CBN's leading talents including Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Judy Ann Santos and Bea Alonzo.
"So far gusto kong makasama ulit si Piolo, gusto ko siyang makasama di lang dahil sa crush ko siya kung di nakasama ko na siya sa 'Milan.' Gusto ko ding makasama si John Lloyd and I know that soon, I think, I will be working with him and, of course, Jericho Rosales and a lot like the younger ones like Gerald Anderson. I'm not saying that I wanna work with them because I wanna paired up with them, not necessarily. I really wanna work with people and I want to see what they're like." Iza explains.
"Sa (female stars) I would like to work with Judai (Judy Ann Santos). I want to work with Bea (Alonzo) who established a very good reputation as far as acting is concerned. Si Angelica Panganiban is a very strong character and a very strong actress as well. Si Karylle and Jodi Sta. Maria, I really want to work with them," she said.
