Top-rating Kapamilya primetime series Juan dela Cruz is set to air its final episode on October 25, 2013, according to a statement released by ABS-CBN on Thursday. The series, starring Coco Martin as the destined “Tagabantay” struggling with his identity as a half-aswang, consistently dominated nationwide ratings since it first aired on February 4, 2013.
In the statement, Martin said that apart from acting, the series allowed him to get to know, bond, and help viewers who are in need via the “Juan Fun School Day” activities, which provided school supplies to the less fortunate students in different parts of the country. The activities give him a different kind of joy, he added.
Martin also expressed his gratitude to viewers who loyally watched the show for the past eight months, making it the most-watched primetime series in both urban and rural households nationwide.
“Sa loob ng halos isang taon, sinamahan nila si Juan sa bawat pagsubok ng kanyang buhay—mula pagkabata, hanggang sa pagiging Tagabantay at ngayong alam na niya na siya ang Anak ng Dilim,” he said, referring to the evolution of his character in the series.
He also urged viewers to continue watching the series as the remaining episodes will be more mind-blowing as they count down to the last three weeks of Juan’s journey.
Juan dela Cruz airs weeknights after TV Patrol on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block.
