Diamond Star Maricel Soriano is back on track after her controversial spat with Gerald Anderson in January. The unfortunate incident cost the veteran actress her supposed comeback teleserye for ABS-CBN, Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.
After a couple of months of absence in the biz, Soriano is back on her feet and is excited for her upcoming comedy movie, Oh My Mamma Mia, which will also star Eugene Domingo, Andi Eigenmann and Billy Crawford. It will be directed by Wenn Deramas under Viva Films.
During the film’s story conference last Saturday, Soriano was in high spirts and shared that she is very excited for the film project. The actress added that she is looking forward to making a movie again and a comedy at that. Her last film outing was the Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 drama, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, for which she won the Best Festival Actress plum.
Soriano considers Oh My Mamma Mia a blessing and an answered prayer. After going through difficult circumstances the past few months, the actress said that the comedy film is a welcome development because she wants to laugh for a change.
She is also looking forward to working with Eugene Domingo again, whom she considers as one of the best comedians in the country and one of the reasons why she accepted the project. The two first worked together in the comedy drama Bahay Kubo: A Pinoy Mano Po! in 2007. It will be her first time to work with Andi (who is also her godchild), Billy Crawford and Direk Wenn.
After Oh My Mamma Mia, Soriano is set to star in another Wenn Deramas comedy flick, Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, with comedian Vice Ganda. Filming for that movie will start in June.
